Equine Passports

Not got a passport? All equines now require a passport, to stay within the law. The penalty for being caught without one is £5000.00, and a number of horse owners have recieved police cautions.

All equines will need to have a full passport identification document by the end of December 2003
Following the announcement by the Government in February 2003, all equines will need to have a full passport identification document by the end of December 2003. This includes all horses, ponies, donkeys and mules irrespective of their status (companion, hack, competition animal etc) or age.

This will bring the UK in line with existing EU legislation.

Please note veterinary certificates are NOT passports.

If you do not wish for a vet to complete the silhouette of your horse or donkey you can contact an Identifier. An Identifier is someone that has been authorised by a passport issuing company, and who has shown that they can complete silhouettes and applications to a high standard.
They are therefore recognised to sign as the Competent Authority.

I work as an identifier, on behalf of Pet-ID / JRC Horse Register, and can complete your passport application forms, and silhouettes on your behalf.

Please find below passport costs:

Visit & silhouette/application form completion: £15.00

Pet ID Administration charge: £21.15 (Payable to Pet ID direct)

Travel costs (after the first 10 miles): £0.40 per mile

Fees are negotiable for more than one horse to passport. (excluding Admin Charge)
